I have been working on a single game project for some time now, and all of the sudden the game will not load when I press the play button in the editor, but will say that I need to fix all of my compiler errors. This is not new to me, but what is new is that the errors do not show up in the console. I have tried re-opening scenes and projects to get it working, and also checking and un-checking the options for filters in the upper right hand corner of the console box. Still nothing.
There might be a few different things that caused this, but I am just at a loss to fixing:
-
I built the project to test it. I did not check the development build box, I just built it and ran it. This has not caused this type of issue before though on this project, or any other projects. I doubt this was the issue, but it is possible.

I did change the “Render Mode” from “Screen Space - Overlay” to “Screen Space - Camera” on a few scene’s canvas items, because I was trying to fix an issue of the canvas not filling up the whole screen on different render settings. As soon as the error message started showing up when I hit play, I immediately switched all of these settings back to “Screen Space - Overlay”. I believe that this changed something in the project to cause the errors, but I am not sure what to do to fix it. I had already saved after making the changes to “Screen Space - Camera”, and I am not sure if there is a way to load a previous save, or undo a save all together. Ctrl Z doesn’t work either.
I am at a loss on what to do here, and I have tried searching the forums for similar issues, but haven’t found anything. Please help as best you can!
My project is using Unity Personal (64bit), with several involved scenes and assets. None of these scenes or assets have caused issues previously. I have not updated Unity mid-project. I am currently using Unity 5.4.2.
