See you around

I definitely like where you are going with this.

  1. The cover system
->You are not able to aim properly when in the “cover mode”.
->You should be able to hide behind cover. And then also peek out (so you can shoot).
->It would be nice to be able to go to the “next cover” (ala splinter cell).

What would be really cool is if there was some type of weapon that was designed to shred the structure to pieces. So you wouldnt always be able to hide behind the cover.

omfg! This is so awesome! Although, I couldn’t figure out what RMB did…

Thanks friend. Your points are all in the making. Only got two hands so it takes time.

Creative Coding:
The RMB makes it possible to move only the torso. (upper body) Hold it down.

Thanks again

Ahh! This is amazing! Are you going to add the ability to shoot while under cover?

CreativeCoding
Yes, it will be a standard cover system. I havent really played any games with it. But I tried some old Gears of war and I guess it will be like that or try to be like that.

this is really awesome, is this for sale when its finished?

GORGEOUS!!!

It would be nice that once you arrive to a corner you could aim with RMB and when unclicking again go back to cover mode.

Whe taking cover with lower boxes it would be nice if it could crouch, otherwise all teh backside is visible to the enemy.

I fond a bit difficult with some low heigh boxes to “enter” the cover mode while with high objets is very easy, even if not moving.

I don’t like aiming at the wall to take up cover, my gun has better things to do then point at the ground. You might want to consider shooting a raycast from the front of the player to find cover vs using the gun.

It’s hard to aim around the side of the wall without exiting cover, the player should not exit cover unless you press the cover button, crouch button, jump button, etc. i.e. if the player is at the left edge of the cover they hold the left movement button to look around the wall and then return to cover when the button is released. Looking over the top of low cover would work the same but by holding the forward button.

Those are my opinions at least.

Very cool! Although I couldn’t use cover with the low boxes. Idk if that is possible or not.

I noticed that too. I think you have to look at them.

well mine often crash but my laptop is really bad so.

Just one small gripe with the animation for getting out of cover with the pillars if you get out of cover on the right side you do a full spin before you are 180 to where you were.

Aside from that it was great.

This really is classy  Can I ask a very simple question, is htis using the Locomotion system and Character Controller or something you brewed yourself? About to delve into an animated character wandering around and if this is what Loco and CharacterCon can do then thats great. I read now and then of people who start with those and then decide they arnt up to the task and roll their own.
Thanks for some very inspiring work

Awesome work as always Peter, always love to see your updates and this stuff is really coming together!

As always, thanks thomas. =)

SpookyCat:

I am not using the locomotive system, Its all blending between different animations. Except the independent torso control witch is a “home brew” solution.

ITAmember:

All this is under construction and will be there. I only got two hands so it takes time. I appreciate the feedback never the less. This is just a draft demo if you call it that. Just to show where I am at the moment.

Thanks all for the compliments and feedback.

Nice

Can you just briefly describe how you did that?

How are you sticking to the surface of a cube, limit the amount to the edges, rotate the character while in cover so that he faces the screen while still keeping the movement left and right screen relative instead of character relative.

I wrote some thoughts and theory down in a couple of posts on my blog. Visit it and you will find what you are looking for.

Used cover mode on the corner where 2 sides meet and I ended up getting this:

Ouch! Anyways the rest is cool!

Xeno360:

Whats your point…? That looks fine to me. =) Thanks, I’ll get straight back to work.

Umm, Am I the only one who sees somthing wrong with that picture?!?! The guy took cover ON THE GROUND! basically. he is laying on the ground w/ his gun straight up in the air stuck under the terrain. he isnt where he is supose to be is my point bro :P.
