Editor Performance in Windows

Hi there,

So I recently upgraded my computer from the following specs:
Core i7 2700K
2 Radeon HD 6850’s
2x4 Gb 1666 Mhz DDR 3 Corsair Vengeance RAM

to the new specs:
Core i7 6700K
1 Geforce GTX 980 Ti
2x8 Gb 2666 Mhz DDR 4 Corsair Vengeance RAM

And am noticing a massive slowdown in the unity editor. Running an empty scene yields 30fps, and going into an actual scene and editing is not much worse.

I realize that this card is more for gaming than graphics editing like a Fire D500 on a Mac Pro, but i never thought i would see this staggeringly low performance. Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? This is a clean Win10 (I also tried Win 8.1) install with all the latest drivers.

I am also having same issue in Windows 10 64bit, very poor editor performance, either its resizing of unity windows or running play in editor, my specs are as follows:

Corei5 3570k @ 4.4ghz
ASUS Sabertooth Z77
Gigabyye Geforce GTX 980 4gb
Corsair Vengance 8gb
Windows 10 64 bit

Unity used to run perfect on windows 8.1 with same specs.

Have to tried running it using -force-d3d9 command line argument? it forces unity in dx9 mode and it has fixed my slowdown issue

Yes running in DX9 fixes the problem, but that is definitely a workaround more than a solution
