Goggle Lens

Hey,
So I have the cm, nm, and sm for these goggles, but I don’t know how to render them really. Right now I have them under Lightmapped/Bumped Diffused. They’re supposed to have a lens but I don’t see any. Any suggestions?

You would create a render texture that takes the picture behind it and then refrects it by the googles nm.

This requires Unity Pro, you can not get refraction / reflection effects without pro

Sorry, but I’m not sure I understand. Are you, as dreamora is talking about, trying to make a refractive effect through the lense, or are you just trying to see the glass of the goggles?

If the latter, then try to set your materials size to “2”. It may be your glass mesh has ID 2 (would make sense to have this object split into two ID’s, as the shader needed for the glass would be a transparent one)

Okay so here’s what I have now. The first image is from Maya, and as you can see the goggles have lenses that are visible. In Unity, I have a parent goggles object which has the goggles geo and goggles mesh in it. The second image is the parent goggles object with the two children. On the top is the mesh which is all black. If I apply textures to it, the black lens disappears and is only visible as if you were wearing the goggles. Any suggestions on getting the goggles to have the proper textures and actual lens working?

I guess that if you look from the other side its there? if so you didn’t model it dual sided and thus it vanishes.

its a very bad practice of modelling apps to disable backface culling by default. As game modeller you should enable culling by default to prevent holes and alike.

as for getting the lens effect: if you mean a refraction alike effect, you can use a refraction material. but ensure that you put a distinct material on the lense as it is a different visual material than the rest with a different purpose (transparent refraction vs non transparent diffuse). if its just meant to be transparent, kick the normal map on that (in that case you also don’t need pro)
