I would like to know, if anyone try to group different trees, grass, bushes into one group and then use this group for painting details in terrain. This would speed up painting large area - you could make forest with different trees and ground foliage “in the fly”. Is there any solutions for that?

The ground would have to be pretty flat as the detail mesh (bushes etc) gets placed at the pivot point. I’ve seen games use small groupings of trees to help the look of randomness.
Having this sort of functionality to have a set of bushes/shrubs/plants be randomly distributed with a paint hose would be cool and will definitely happen in a future version of Unity.
Nice to hear that kind of future plan.
