How many tricount iphone4 can handle?

Hi all,

I know this is a aged question but still can’t find a particular answer :stuck_out_tongue: .
How many tricount iphone4 / ipad2 can handle?
My fellow gave me a character model today and tricount from states is over 20k for just a single model.
I really doubt mobile device can deal with it per frame, especially we expect to see around 15 characters in same view.
Any advice ? Thank you!

What frame rate do you want to achieve? What shaders will you use? What depth complexity will your scene have?

Take your model, and duplicate it to make a small army. Then build that and view it on the iPad2. You should be quickly able to gauge how many of these models you can render on the device.

People are cautious about coming up with a number, because it depends on so many factors. If I say “it’s 45,000” and someone else says “it’s 60,000” then I look like an idiot. If I say “I have a demo that has 123,456 triangles per frame @60Hz” then someone else will say “he’s lying”. So, no-one comes up with a number.

Having said all that, 20k tris for a single character sounds far too much.

Yes, that’s true. Thanks for your nice reply!
