I would like to create a growth of 1~2 (the tree already looks complete, and then the length of the main trunk increases) instead of 0~1 (the main trunk grows first, then branches grow, then leaves grow).
I have confirmed that 0~1 growth can be done by turning on Growth in the timeline, but I don’t know how to do 1-2 growth.
I am new to speed tree and would like to learn as much as possible in an easy-to-understand manner.
Hi @Koichiro_Ko,
Welcome to SpeedTree! Glad to have you.
If I understand you correctly, here is what you can do to get the effect you want:
Trunk
- On your trunk in the Animation tab, change Speed Scale to profile curve so the left dot is not at 0. This will allow you to control at what height your tree starts. By default it’s at 0 so that it starts at the ground level.
-
Change Radius Style to Stretch. This will place your Skin->Absolute profile curve across your trunk as it grows.
-
Play with the Radius curve. If you want to taper the radius of your trunk when the animation starts and have it increase over time, keep it at an upward angle. If you want a consistent radius, you can choose the Max preset.
Branches
- Select all your branches and spines. Change Timing->Style to “Parent’s start and end”. This will ensure the branches are already visible at the start of the animation.
I’m attaching a file using the sample VFX palm for your reference. I hope this helps!

Thank you for your response.
This is the growth animation I was hoping for!
The sample files were also very helpful!
You’re welcome! Happy tree-making!
