If you make provocative games, will you be in conflict with Unity's company?

I have been playing games and some are pretty provocative. “Grand theft auto” is one example. I also heard about a new game called “Dead Red Redemption”.

I think anything goes but you have to use common sense and social decency. If you want to make a game where you control a character shooting up a school full of kids, or a rape simulator etc then you must suffer the consequences for that choice of game you made. That’s the least to worry about. More importantly what kind of an individual are you, within yourself, to want to make games like that?

So, as long as you are not going down sickhead roads with your game development, code away.

Aren’t you the same person who tried to claim that the asset store violated your 1st amendment rights?

You will be in conflict with many people, but what is the meaning of your question?

Unity doesn’t place restrictions on the type of product you can make (with the exception of those types of content that are regulated by law). So you can make whatever you feel like.

Unity does have its own values and standards. And they do spend money promoting them. But as yet I’ve seen no cases of them pulling the engine from a studio that made games that conflict with their standards.

It would be an interesting test case if something did pop up, and there was a trial by social media.

Wait… What???

Since you are bringing it up. You can read the term and conditions for yourself. I am not arguing about this issue anymore.

I think Unity doesn’t care. Go ahead make a baby seal clubbing game, or whatever you want just don’t break the law.

Because your argument makes no sense as your first amendment rights simply protect you from having your speech infringed upon by the US government, which does not include private entities.

I am glad you are actually trying to reason. But that wasn’t my point. However, I already got a message this forum isn’t for politics. So I won’t discuss it anymore.

There are content limitations on certain assets Unity makes available, such as can’t make an adults only game using certain Unity created character models. Creating a real money gambling platform, or providing gaming via streaming, requires special licensing from Unity with no info on price or availability made public that I am aware of. You also cannot use the Unity engine to create a competing game engine.

Other than that, I believe things are wide open.

Is it bad of me that I really now want to see this go down in a twitter storm?

I’m only aware of one incident and the game in question was far more provocative than either of your examples.

That said they only asked that the logo be removed. Hatred continues to be available.

What about FPS games, where you shoot other human?
But yeah, they are mimicking soldiers (most often) …
Or films like Saw for example.
Suddenly that ok.
Worlds idiocracy.

Still, i don’t understand the point of this question?! lol!???
what are you trying to achieve on this topic Jescau89???

I design fetish games and much of what I write is pretty out there and have yet to even get a hint from Unity that I’m anywhere near violating community standards. As far as I can tell if you are staying within the law you’re fine.
