I’ve also noticed that the main GitHub repository hasn’t received any updates since October 2024. I am wondering if this label is a mistake or a signal that Unity is stepping away from active development of ML-Agents.
I’d like to ask:
Is ML-Agents officially being deprecated, or is this a packaging error?
Is it still on Unity’s roadmap for updates and long-term support? (i.e. switching from Sentis to Inference Engine)
I’ve been producing ML-Agents tutorials recently and think it’s a great tool. It would be a shame to see it abandoned. Some clarification from Unity would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed light on this.
Hey there, sorry I am not sure why that deprecation warning appeared - I have alerted our team on that.
We are not deprecating ML Agents. It has not been managed well and I appologize for the confusion… the disparate versions and various docs sites. We are going to clean it up shortly and ensure a few things:
There is a single source for the latest ML Agents package on the official package manager
There is a single documentation page
It is integrated with Inference Engine (replacement for Sentis)
Sorry I can’t promise a timeline but we are working on this soon.
Hi, I am trying to install the ml-agents package but the install button in the package manager is greyed out. Is this because it has been depracated and cannot be used anymore or because of an internal issue?
OK I believe we fixed this issue. Can you please confirm? There was an incorrect change made that showed v3.0.0 as Deprecated for a short time. This is now resolved. Only the the v2.0.1 should display as Deprecated. Sorry for the confusion!
Yes, its done. Not showing deprecated anymore, but is it still being managed properly, also is mlagents 3.0 the official Unity thing or the Community one?
