Many sample projects appear to be "broken" in perspective view, but run correctly?

I’ve downloaded the latest version of Unity and am trying to play with some of the example projects on this page Resources → Example Projects.

The problem is that the projects appear “broken” in their perspective views. The assets look impossibly miniscule. Everything is bunched up and no amount of zooming can bring me into a workable range. I can’t select anything by clicking it in perspective, and using the scale/move/rotate tools appears to fail. Even clicking the item’s name in the Heirarchy panel and pressing “f” doesn’t work. Oddly enough, the project does function correctly when you press the play button, but that does no good when you can’t edit the assets and play around with the files.

Is this a bug? Is it intentional? How can I fix this?

Here’s a screenshot…

Try double clicking the names quickly, that does what f does but might work for you.

That appears to work! The crazy thing though is that pressing “f” still appears to be broken in those projects.

Note : the “f” key works in other projects that don’t start off with assets so tiny.
