First of all, the tile map rule tile is extremely powerful. Much more than any other thing i’ve seen and it’s been great to work with it so far.
But there’s a problem with it, atleast for me. See, my tileset is quite a lot more complicated to set rules for. It’s still possible for sure because the system is really powerful, but since so many more rules are necessary to set it up, it gets too hard to navigate and identify which rule is what in the inspector, specially because:
a) There are tiles with random output and it adds too much clutter to the screen.
b) Some sprites are very similar to each other, even in the rules sometimes, and the “select” button on the sprite view makes it even harder than already is to identify stuff.
It would be nice to add a Name Field with some visual sugar to each rule so you easily identify which tile represents what, like “Top Left”, “Bottom Left before Corner”, etc.
I think it would be possible to add a Name Field and we will see if it can be made Editor only. What other “visual sugar” would you like to see to identify each Rule better? Is the Sprite preview too small now compared to other Rule details? Let us know if you have other suggestions about this!
A separator for the inspector would be nice, aswell with a name for it, like you some times do with GameObjects to make scene more readable, so i can separate things like “Corners” “Corners with something…”.
With visual sugar for the text i meant something like a bigger text, bold, different color, etc. Just something to make the name of the rule popup from the rest of the texts, since there’s too much of it already.
