I am regularly (like on almost every visit) experiencing this.
I will log in, see lots and lots of unread posts which are appropriately marked as such. I’ll go about my business and read some, perhaps reply here or there, and then suddenly all the posts are marked as read - typically when returning from posting a reply, but I can’t say with certainty that this is the only case.
It’s nothing severe, but it’s getting quite annoying.
It’s been like this ever since I manually asked the forum to mark everything as read.
Well, I guess I can put that to the test - but If that’s how it’s supposed to work, someone has completely missed the point of marking them unread in the first place.
I find it increasingly annoying, as the more threads I reply to, the more likely I am to miss any answers and thread developments.
That is why I always subscribe (permanently or temporarily) to threads that I’m interested in, so I don’t miss anything. Yes, it’s an extra step, but it’s worth it. Tips, tricks, how to solve certain problems and info about certain add-ons are usually worth “bookmarking” by subscribing.
argh. Now, apparently, it can’t even mark them right to begin with! I log in, and only the very-most recent (like within half an hour), are marked unread.
It’s quite frankly intolerable and an embarrassment for the Unity team imo. I think I’ll go make that bug report.
