This month we have 3 refunds listed in our admin page. While the FAQ states:
“As specified in the Asset Store EULA all sales are final. However, you are welcome to contact the publisher of the asset for their assistance. In some cases, they may be willing to authorize a refund at their discretion.”
Yet, we didn’t receive any complains or request for any refund.
Any idea what the deal might be with those refunds? Tried to contact the admins without any luck yet, I figured perhaps someone here could bring some light on this matter.
Refunds are issued by Unity Technologies to the customer. Unity normally asks customers to work through the publisher. As the publisher, you can request a refund for the customer.
Chargebacks are typically initiated by banks when they detect fraud, such as stolen credit cards. There were a huge number of chargebacks last month. Chargebacks happen automatically, without publishers getting involved.
Unity issues a no questions asked refund if the user has never downloaded the asset and they request the refund within 14 days. I expect that that is what happened.
I will re-open this thread since same thing just happened to me. @Zafio have you got reply from support? What hapened to me is that i have 2 refunds this month. No one contacted me to say where is the issue. One of assets that is refunded was sold only one time and it was in december last year! In eula state: if the user has never downloaded the asset and they request the refund within 14 days. Now more then 3 months have passed since sale of that asset, so how can this happen? I contacted support, but when im waiting for reply i want to post this here in case something strange is going on.
@Tom_Veg - Was it a refund or a chargeback? Chargebacks are initiated by the credit card company, not the customer, for fraudulent charges. Unity processes chargebacks in batches that can go back months.
It is clearly a refund, not chargeback. The biggest question marks is for that asset which only got sold once in december last year… But even if there was no download, why we publishers cant see if buyer download the model or not?
