Seems there is no real googliness in google

So I just had my game removed and my developer account terminated permanently from the play store by google.

The emails they send are machine driven cold hearted and not very helpful in bringing light to exactly how you offended some or other policy, they simply list sections in their legal documents that make very general statements.

It started three days ago when out of the blue I received an app suspension , stating my app violated some or other dangerous content policy related to an advert service. The biggest joke is I have no advert in my game. I did however try out an advert service right in the start when I first uploaded my game two years ago but I removed it after two months or so. So its been a bona fide free game for most of its existence.

I appealed this suspension and told them everything mentioned above, they accepted the appeal the next day and said my game will be made active again I will just have to log into the console and publish it again. Great all sorted glad its over all statistics for game downloads and ratings all intact.

Until yesterday when I received two emails from them stating my game has been deleted ( not suspended ) and my developer account TERMINATED!

Again these emails were NOT HELPFUL AT ALL in pointing out exactly how you supposedly violated one or other policy listed in all their legal terms. Again there was an appeal option which I obviously began engaging, just to find out you can only enter a very limited amount of characters into the textbox provided. So I tried to be as concise as possible in explaining Im just a single developer with one game on the store which is absolutely free and does not have any violating advert services as initially reported to me by them.

It was not very long and I received another template generated email stating the appeal was denied.

What im struggling to understand is the permanent termination of the developer account. Permanent in that you may NEVER EVER FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE register another developer account on the play store. This brings me to the title of this post. What if someone made a mistake or is struggling to understand what is happening?

The last sentence in their email :

“We are unable to provide further details and will not respond to additional inquiries. We recommend that you utilize an alternative method for distributing your apps in the future.”

So that is it? This is unbelievable. They attach some English name at the bottom of these template generated emails yet In this whole process I have not once had the feeling any real human being was actually speaking directly to me or read my appeal statements.

What a terrible experience and yes, it seems there is no real googliness in Google. I’ve just been trampled on by a machine.

(ps my game served me in part as a portfolio when securing freelance contracts doing development using Unity)

Wow is that for real?

Just one more reason never to deal with Google Play.

This is very real and very unbelievable - I’m still shocked at what just happened.

I’m feeling very sorry for you :frowning:

Woah. That sucks big time.
Which game was it?

btw. what ad service that was? maybe the .apk still had those files inside?

Thanks Nipoco

Its not the end of the world , my feelings are hurt yes but I will just make lemonade with these lemons! I was anyway planning on entering into a partnership with an American friend of mine when publishing another game in the future. While my game was free, I could not have earned any money from it via Google Play in any case since the country I live in is not on Googles list of approved merchant countries.

@the_motionblur My game was Tortuga Tales, its had 70000 downloads and a 3.5 rating - here is a screen shot of the game :

Keep trying, there has got to be some way to get some additional information. It seems like either there was just straight up an error, or someone “reported” you either in error or malice. It may take a few tries and a bit of effort, but you should be able to take to a higher level. Let us know how it goes.

@mgear it was “AppBrain” I removed all references to this from within the game and maninfest xml. The sdk jar file was still in the plugins android folder … Would Unity have included this in the build even if it had no reference? Its to late now but just wondering

Perma-nerf by a bot is massively sucky. But as you say “make lemonade with these lemons”. Thick skin and rebuild.
+1 to you
-1 to google

@zombiegorilla , I would not know where to start … especially since they emphatically stated : “…and will not respond to additional inquiries”

haha Whippets yes indeed!

Call them. Google has actual office staff available in most countries. They don’t make a big deal of advertising it, but they are there.

At one stage Git Hub locked me out because it was convinced I was a robot. It sucks to be hammered by the auto systems.

Aw man. Yes that really sucks. The game looks actually very good. It’s weird that it’s getting auto-blocked.

Ever since the Youtube-Google±coercion, I’ve had the creeping suspicion that Google is striving more for popularity than functionality. It’s probably also the first time I’ve wanted to see google fail.

Clearly valve needs to launch a hostile takeover of Google.

Except to make lots of money… just saying…

The only app store I would ignore right now is Samsung, they make me less than 1% from what I get on Google Play, probably a 0.3% of iTunes, lol.

This, to me, is the crappiest part of a crappy situation. To accept the appeal, but then re-ban the game and your developer account (probably for “repeat” violations) sounds like a flaw in their automated process.

I would definitely call and speak to someone directly!

P.S: Good luck!

Hit the press circuit man, maybe you’ll get a bunch of publicity for it

I have AppBrain on our game “Attack of the Wall Street Titan” for over a year now. Never got any flack over it.
