The game takes place in a 1950’s sci-fi universe, where you control a rocket through space while avoiding danger and collecting powerups. There is 5 different rockets available, four of which are unluckable through achievements, each with their own special ability. Most of the games content is inspired by old movies, like “Plan 9 from outer space”, “Le voyage dans la lune” and “Frau im mond”, to bring extra joy to all the sci-fi fans out there.
I am currently awaiting an update of my game to be approved on the app store due next week some time (which will bring the game below the 20MB 3G limit), and change the ability of the 2nd rocket.
I may add, that in addition to the release of Space Legends, i made my older game “What the flock” free for a limited time period Its a 2D game made with unity as well.
I wonder if you couldn’t use custom shaders to have lighting similar to the man’s face in your iTunes icon… That would give it even more of a retro look!
The icon is primarily post-processed, but i guess it would be possible to give it a similar effect to that shading in post-processing as well? The look i aimed for was something like a printed movie poster (they were often hand drawn). The actual app icon on the ipad/iphone looks less flat though:
You are more than welcome to have a go at it if you are handy with photoshop or similar Would love to see what you have in mind applied to the actual icon.
Ah, i get what you mean now
I aimed for a somewhat realistic movie prop look, and used mostly specular and vertex lit shaders. The vertex lit objects (ie planets) and the background have a bit of that over exposed lighting as the soldier, but a shader like that example you showed could add a little more twist to it. I experimented with something with a bit of the same effect, using a second blue dimmed light in the scene, but it was rather expensive performance wise.
