Hi all,
I have recently downloaded Unity and I know virtually nothing, but would like to have a go at making a game.
My question is, are there any good tutors out there who focus on just Unity and are worth following? I found two, but I don’t want to start with them and it turns out that they are too difficult to follow, or it’s not what i’m looking for.
I have found on youtube:
Brackeys
Jimmy Vegas
All the others I found work on other things too, like modelling.
If you haven’t checked out the Learn section you might want to go there first, it’s got a ton of information on every topic to keep you informed. Might be a better start than looking for special tutor stuff first.
The learn section is the best place to start. You need te fundamentals to be able to pick between good and bad tutorials.
After that just do a search around. I think my tutorials are pretty good (link in sig). But so do most content creators. It’s more about finding a style that you can follow, as opposed to any specific channels being massively better.
Well, there’s so many different things to learn… But the Unity Learn section and documentation pages are definitely a great place to spend time. As a total beginner, you will probably be jumping all over the place learning stuff, but definitely start with the Learn section. Do the simple projects like Roll-A-Ball, etc. to get some quick familiarity with the system and interface.
A couple others I’ve seen with tons of Tutorial content(aside from the ones already mentioned) would be:
BurgZergArcade… has a website and a youtube channel.
speed-tutor has a ton of different types of tutorials(web and youtube also).
ETeeski has quite a few also, I believe.
If you want a straight up “everything” type tutorial(probably more advanced though), you can check out Igor Ahearne’s tutorial series. He goes over literally everything in the process of designing a horror type game. He has like 9 video parts, I think altogether you are looking at something like 30+ hours in his videos. They cover everything from modelling to AI, etc.
