Unable to draw Grass or Detail Meshes on Terrain in Beta 2018.3.0b10 and 2018.3.0b11

I’m unable to draw grass textures or detail meshes on any terrain. I have tried various combinations of brush size, opacity, target strength, detail distance etc. I even tried to add details via script. Nothing worked. No error messages are printed. It says “One or more selected brushes are read-only” in terrain inspector though.

Steps to reproduce:

  • Create Terrain in Unity 2018.3.0b10, 2018.3.0b11 and 2018.3.0b12 with HDRP
  • Update HDRP (ro 4.3.0)
  • Add a Grass Texture
  • Try to paint

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks!

Edit: Tried with HDRP 4.2.0 and 4.3.0

Are you using the default rendering pipeline or HDRP/LWRP? Could you please submit a bug report with a reproduction project?

using LWRP
Some problems when using old terrain objects created with older Unity version after migrating the project.
Grass not animating and strange brush behavior.
if you create new terrain object and use Export/import raw to get the hightsmap from the old terrain every thing work fine

Could you provide some images or a video?

sorry i cant! i already solved that problem as i said, but there is more issues in LWRP,

checking “draw instanced” make the terrain textures disappear (as if i unchecked “Draw”)

shadowed spots of the terrain are completely black(using material LWRP/Terrain/Standard Terrain)

Using the HDRP 4.2.0. Also Trees don’t get animated (Wind). Will post a bug later.

For the record: Doesn’t work in 2018.3.0b12 (HDRP 4.3.0) either.

Update: When the billboard checkbox is disabled in the grass texture preferences pink boxes get drawn.

Does anyone know how to get grass working in HDRP? Ive been trying and really struggling, and placing a ton of grass meshes manually is not an option. Polybrush also does not give a big enough dense enough brush so that also is not an option for a big sized terrain

Should be directed to world building forum if it’s not a beta specific question.
