Unity 2019.3.0 Beta 9 Doesn't work with the latest HD Packages

Throws 3 Errors if you add HD Packages 7.1.2

Maybe 7.1.3 will release

Well hopefully they haven’t went home for the weekend yet. Because I don’t see a way on the Hub to download older Betas…

yeah terrain shaders are broken in 7.1.2

Is it that complicated to write automated test, that will import all available packages for released version and check, that there are no compile errors in the console?

Well Also they recently Broke the Refresh on Shader Graphs when making a material. Now all you see is a white ball. And the Visual Environment script say it needs a volume even though it has one. And in general Settings from older builds tend not to work.

I think it will just be 8.0 next.

Even for 2019.3? But when ?

7.x is for 2019.3
8.x will be for 2020.1

If you guys want best compat only use verified packages. Expect trouble otherwise.

Offtopic

Perhaps there will be some 7.x revisions but looking at github shows 8.x is the focus. Unity’s dances with version numbers are amazing though. I see on some assets (XR for instance) the 2.x ones are many months older than the 1.x ones.

It’s best to make the game with whatever is here right now, today. If Unity doesn’t have it and you can’t, it’s best to find the right fit engine that can. Unity won’t mind, they are first and foremost intelligent people.

7.1.2 is verified for 2019.3, but broken in beta 9.

7.1.2 is broken in 2020.1 as well for deployment. Do you have a bug number? might help them chase it down.

Just submitted one, case 1195763

Very easy repro. Create new project in 2019.3 beta 9, upgrade HDRP to 7.1.2, get errors.

7.1.2 is definitely marked as verified and it absolutely breaks a default HD project in 2019.3 B9

It’s marked as a known issue on the change log for b9.

Then why did they release it if they knew it broke things? LoL

Ah damn it, I was sure I checked. Thanks, going to close the defect.

Yes I too would like to see them in the hub ( older versions )

No, there is a ‘not finished/released yet’ 7.2.0 on github and every so often most of the stuff originally put under github 8.x master or staging branches is still being merged into 7.2.0.

I dont have any clues about when 7.2.0 will be released.

I think around this month will be released 2019.3 so along with it.

Actually I am out of date again - what I said sometimes happens with merging 8.x work in to 7.x, happened again earlier today. But not just for 7.2.0 (branch release/2019.3) but also 7.1.3 (branch release/7.1.x), the changelog for which now says that the release date for 7.1.3 is today, Nov 4th.
