So software developers have 2 years-ish to start transitioning into supporting ARM CPUs on mac devices. It just occurred to me that this includes Unity.
Does anybody have any reservations or concerns regarding this transition? I imagine it’ll slow down feature development by a noticeable amount and also raise the question on if Unity should support both x86 and ARM or just jump ship completely to ARM even for windows (assuming the windows PC market follows Apple’s trend and the Surface Pro X).
Performance is apparently supposed to improve with the new ARM CPUs from Apple but would this still hold true for computationally intensive features like the GPU light mapper?
I’m a little worried about using Unity on mac in the future but mainly because I don’t know enough about the implications of this change to the Unity editor and its roadmap.
