Thanks

Commercial suggest’s there is some money involved.

I would suggest the collaboration forum. Im not sure this post will be detailed enough to get approved though.

It won’t truly matter either way. It’s a survival game with profit sharing. That’s the poster child for a project that almost no one will take seriously on these forums. Anyone likely to take it seriously would either be useless to the project or have enough skill to make it themselves.

Why not just buy these systems off the asset store?

You may still need someone knowledgeable enough to piece individual systems together and/or tweak them. With that said there is this Survival Game template on the Asset Store for $100. Haven’t tried it myself but it does look pretty nice and has reasonably good documentation too.

accurate

UnitZ would also do the trick. It actually has all the systems listed, and it’s not to difficult to deck out with different stuff.

Additionally UnitZ has multiplayer support whereas I believe Survival Game Template is only for single player.

Well, some people would take it seriously, if it was paid project (hourly/weekly/per task), instead of being Profit Sharing.

P.S I guess i’m in grumpy mode today.

I think you’re great.

On topic: Buying systems like that can be a great way to learn the basics of Unity and can help you build something that you will enjoy, but it might not help you out as a developer. Assuming that’s something you want.

A lot of these systems (Inventory/Dialogue/Crafting/AI) seem really difficult at first and are a bit difficult to approach when new to the area, but once you get going on them, you’ll find that the principles involved in creating one system translates to another. Eventually, you’ll start getting into the habit of using logic to create your own systems, maybe even something that isn’t offered on the asset store. So there’s that.

Still, nothing wrong with buying assets to help speed up parts of your development cycle.

I’ve always felt like your cat avatar has a grumpy look on its face. Kinda like it’s saying “You interrupted my bath for this!?”.

We had enough of those UnitZ clones! Don’t give OP any ideas!

Do US presidential elections also put you in a strange mood?

But it’s funny when people say there’s a horde of zombie survival games on steam!

Did you see what TonyLi did with the framework for the New Years jam? It doesn’t have to be a clone.

I think the concern for the OP would be that unitz matches so much of their criteria that the needed customization would be minimal.

@BucketPlayzPhilip it sounds like a logical development progression for your game would mean starting with an inventory, then collecting, then crafting. Do you know what kind of inventory setup you want? Are you using the standard fps controller for movement?
