I updated to 5.1 a couple of weeks ago and provided the 1st Build to my Beta testers.
The Build runs fine on my 2 PCs (NVidia GT 7600 & Radeon 5850), but for the 2 Beta testers who tried it, the rendering is too dark ! (1 has a NVidia GTX 260 ; other one, I don’t know).
Previous Unity used for Build : 5.0.2 (not sure if it was a patch release or not)
The main difference with my precedent Build is that I allow to use DirectX 11/12 . I got some crash on my PCs pointing to DirectX11.dll , so I guess I’m going to switch back to support only DirectX 9 and see if it works better for my Beta testers or not.
But I’m posting to know if other developers got this issue as well or not.
Thanks in advance for any head up on that matter !
I tested on my 2 other PCs : Intel HD5000 and NVidia GT7800 (the 10 years old card ;)), and it didn’t have any issue on them as well.
I then did a new Build with only DirectX9 support and my Beta testers tried it and the issue was gone, so it was related to the extra supported modes like I thought (either OpenGL or DX11/12).
That menu screen looks pretty awesome man! Sorry your having lighting issues with your testers. I dont know what the issue could be, but I just wanted to let you know that I like your menu screen. Maybe report it as a bug to Unity?
I don’t need to support anything but DX9 for my game so for me right now it’s fine. Unity support is already crushed by the sheer number of bug reports, so I’ll leave this one out, especially because I don’t have any info to make it interesting (if it was failing on one of my PCs, I could check more in details), and also because I’d rather have them go through the small but precise bugs I reported lately.
I have noticed the same thing after upgrading from Unity 4. On the artist’s PC and my new laptop scenes are significantly darker than on my primary machine. Will try it on a few more machines to hopefully narrow it down. Switching back to DX9 is not an option for this project, unfortunately.
