How I perceive that comment, is once upgraded to U5, you can no longer work on the project in U4.
IDC anyway, if that is the case, Ill create a new project in U5, copy assets folder. Its not an upgrade, its a new project with re-used assets, which is the same as downloading a package off the asset store and importing it into your project.
That is the part that sounds wrong… or incorrect/confused/out of date/however you wanna describe it.

I think there’s some kind of miscommunication going on here. If in the past you’d “upgraded” a Unity 3 Pro project to Unity 4 Free there wouldn’t have been any problems or confusion. It’d just be a downgrade and still is now, just less so.
