Vertex Animation (422477)

Hello. Unity 2.61 supports vertex animation? If not it will support the Unity 3? If yes how to export animation in vertex fxb in Maya? or to import into Unity? I apologize for the worse English I Bohemia (Czech).

No, you can’t import vertex animation in 2.6.1. I don’t know about Unity 3.

I suppose in some cases though you could fake it, such as using lots of little bones and baking keyframe motion driven by some procedural animation maybe. I’ve not really tried though.

Just in case you have missed it there is a morph script on the wiki http://www.unifycommunity.com/wiki/index.php?title=MeshMorpher and a manager script http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=38815&highlight=morph+manager

Another one http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=16425

And another one here http://forum.unity3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=36405&highlight=morph

Or it’s not too hard to roll your own, click the image for a player that shows morph and vertex animation (the odd shaped box in the middle), or a video can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/Gawaine1066

Yes I know. I found it had previously, but I thought that this can be avoided. I do not know how to use it. You can write a tutorial please?

I would like bake bones to vertices and thus speed up the animation.

Or do not know where some of the automatic tool rig for Maya, such as the TSM? The setup machine works fine if I double bake and pivot at X = 0, Y = 0, Z = 0, but he has about 165 bones and weight and manual Unity write that the maximum is about 60 bones for the excellent character. This very slow if there were 9 players and from 180 fps to slow to 70 fps with very good PC.
I need an automatic rig, where you can control the number of bones.

No, Unity 2.6 and 3.0 do not support vertex/morph-target animation.

Use bone animation or one of the script solutions instead. And you can go on feedback.unity3d.com and vote on vertex/morph-target animation - I think it exists somewhere there:)

This is a new script that I released today :
