what do you think of the logos for my game and how can it improve?

I have created several logos for my game’s website. The only information needed is that there are 4 factions to the game, and each faction is represented by a heraldry animal. The game is medieval high fantasy themed.

  1. Which logos do you like or dislike?
  2. How can the ones you like or dislike the least improve?

I used Photoshop and these were prototyped with images from Fotopia until I decided on the first one (the scroll + map + shield + black “burn in” heraldry crests) where I actually bought the images but have yet to put it all together high resolution. You will see “Fotopia” on some of the images bc I tested them before buying them. Didn’t want to waste my credits. So obviously, the scrolls and the like are a bit blurry due to being low res enlarged to high res, but the point is the theme.

I would have created a symbol similar to Dark Age of Camelot’s fancy celtic knot with a triangle of 3 factions, but I lack the artistic ability to do something like that. I just don’t know how that quality is done.

I like the shields and the first one the best. Pretty good but not for a icon you need a single symbol for that.

  1. use same resolutions, like the shield is lower res than the icons, like here: http://forum.unity3d.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=20166&d=1304493020

  2. use overlay effects for texts (multiply, screen, etc), they should have the texture of whatever is below it

  3. never, ever use default bevel emboss, finetune it with care if you need to use it…

I typed a long reply, closed tab, and lost it… so this is the short version

hope this helps
