What free assets would you recommend for me?

Hello everyone, I am a noob and basically I like creating 3d models of buildings, villages, etc. and exporting them to game engines to create realistic environments, the problem is that I don’t really want to have to learn how to create vehicles in unity, how to create characters, etc, I just want to focus +90% on the environment, so are there any more or less realistic (at least not cartoonish) characters and vehicles, where I don’t have to create the ,controllers" my self?

I currently use the sci-fi’ish car and 1st person controller from the standard assets, but I suppose that there’s something else as well, so I just want something basic like that, for example previously I used the Cryengine and there I already had a player, there were multiple vehicles and so on, I only had to export models and that’s it, but recently I had problems exporting textures to it and unity is much easier, so I switched to it, but still the character/vehicle thing is a real issue for me…

Also, this is not really basic, but how do you create trains, do you have controllers for them or do you use the path lines thing and one last thing, are there any AI characters/animals that you can download? I’d like to create some life in my world, so…

My friend, you will need to learn eventually, it’s not that hard. Anyway… Most assets on the asset store are paid, but there are plenty of cool assets there, why don’t you browse a little? You can use the tools marked by the red box on this image to find exactly what you are looking for.

Start with the standard assets. They should cover off your basic controllers.

ProBuilder Lite (Free and a must.)
^^^^ THE FREE ONE YOU ARE LOOKING FOR ^^^^

ProGrids (A few dollars but REALLY worth it.)
Amplify Shader Editor (A steal at the price it is right now, but still in beta.)

Also, Bryangs is right, there are tons and tons of tutorials on this and it’s very much worth your time to take them.

About the only regularly used free asset in my collection is DOTween.

Outside of my own personal list there is a search engine for open source Unity resources.

As soon as you want something specific from the Asset Store, you’ll almost certainly have to pay to play. Murphys Law I suppose.

DOTween is the only free asset I can think of that I use.
