Why were these negative reviews deleted?

I noticed these negative reviews of Gaia / Gaia Pro:

Here’s a web archive link:

I asked one of the authors, he said he didn’t delete his and didn’t even know it got deleted. So he posted it again today, the publisher even offered a refund:

And it already got deleted again.

Can I ask why? What was wrong with it that it got deleted twice without even informing the author? Anyone would ask themselves why it’s gone and just try again which would give Unity a reason for a ban.

In comparison e. g. this one stayed like many other one-liners without content and is no different to the first deleted review in the image, except that it has 5 stars instead of 1:

Thank you very much for the clarification. Please post the reason in public here so that everyone knows how to write a proper review that won’t get deleted and won’t get them banned. Thank you very much

Hi @Rowlan ,
Just looks who actually made Gaia and where he was working before, and you will find why he may do “more” than we can do. That’s sad, but that’s how this world is working.

Asset authors can’t delete reviews. They can only reply to them and report them (just like everyone else) to the Asset Store team, should they be considered as abuse.

I guess these reviews were deleted because they were a) kind of unrelated to the actual asset and b) mostly accusations that are baseless. The Asset Store is not Steam.

It could be they have had refunds. And also, it seems pretty clear on the description that the existing Gaia owners aren’t affected, they just don’t get the new stuff. I think that’s fair.

I don’t endorse Gaia and don’t particularly like the product’s way of working. I’m a fussy devil, also the OP has had run-ins with Gaia before so I’ll lock this right now.

Unity staff can post to offer an explanation, but it will be their decision to do so.

Also @Rowlan may not open any more threads about Gaia for the remainder of their use of Unity forums. This is because of the obvious dislike and I’m done with that. Also @AdamGoodrich is not permitted to rise to the bait.

These forums are for development, not drama.
