Any new announcements in regards to New Nintendo 3DS with Unity support?

I was thinking E3 may be a good time for Nintendo to announce Unity support for New Nintendo 3DS, but there is no news. After that one, I was expecting it will be announced on the PC Conference, but nothing there too.

Other than the initial announcement, has it arrived? If not, I am guessing there’s no planned announcement at E3, but rather much later this year?

Not sure anyone on this site is going to speak for Nintendo.

Hey, I’m not sure!

Anyway, I would not hold my breath. 3DS is in its twilight and NX is most definitely its successor.

From what I’ve gathered the company is frustrated with the over specialized architecture of the DS and 3DS which has prevented them from releasing DS and 3DS games on the Wii and WiiU. NX is going to close that divide, supposedly. My guess would be the NX will be a WiiU in a WiiU controller type tablet.

If bringing the DS and 3DS to the WiiU is too problematic, I can only imagine how hard it would be to configure Unity to build on that voodoo hardware, which there’s really no point to since Nintendo explicitely said that they will show off NX at E3 2016 and start the 3DS’s last real year.

You confused me…

Slow clap…

Thanks again. Although, I thought it would be coming from Unity. Company relations is confusing sometimes.

When we have more information about the Unity side-of-things, we will make an announcement; likely through our blog.

Ok. Thanks again.

I wouldn’t exactly say the 3DS or even the 2DS is “sunsetting”. It was one of the top selling hardware consoles last month, comparable to PS4 sales. It has a bright future and some longevity, much like the original DS (which lasted about 6 or so years). This coming from a DS and 3DS developer on a few games. I would like to see an update as well… as soon as information is available. I was in the Nintendo indie program maybe last year or the year before. The deal breaker for the dev kits was not having a lock on my home office…which is really in one large room in my home.

Look at the last paragraph. From E3 this week…

Thank you, as well as to Gamasutra! Quoting it here.

Are there more news available by now? Still waiting for an answer from Nintendo concerning my developer application over here, so I don’t really have information from Nintendo.

You get the information and all that is required from nintendo. There’s no actual entry point to it here, this is for the Unity Engine, and NDA generally means you will contact MS/Sony/nintendo directly instead.

We can’t talk about engine features or anything whatsoever other than you can happily make games on it with Unity. Just contact nintendo.

Also, moderators are instructed to say this, it’s the official line.
