I need to build my VR game for Quest 1. I’d like to use the latest LTS version of Unity 6 and the latest release of the XR Interaction Toolkit because I also need to build the same game for Quest 2.
When installing the latest tools naively, Quest does not appear in the possible target devices.
I then installed version 3.4.1 of Oculus XR Plugin, which still supports Quest 1. However when building my game (the sample DemoScene of XRIT), it keeps crashing and it is unable to run.
Is there a solution or am I forced to downgrade to Unity 2022 or even Unity 2021?
im working on a vr game for me and mates to play (gonna have online) its gonna be a sandbox game but gonna make the game public my main vr and my only is a quest 1 so im just gonna make it a APK and no xr
I just got a Quest 1, while it is “end of life” it is not garbage and still works. I believe governments need to start forcing companies to not make needless garbage in landfills and stop making products that are locked using anti-consumer and anti-trust tactics. Perhaps the people themselves should be holding executives liable and I think they will be more and more as time goes on as we enter a new era where if the governments keep failing to act, people will.
That said, I would love to release a game on Steam that is free from malware, but I can not guarantee this when I must resort to using questionable software and hacks to use a device that I already have and I can not afford a new one, but we’re forced to have to work with what we have, right? That is where we’re at, not an ideal situation and not a choice I would like to make, it’s either take risks we shouldn’t have to take or just give up on the idea of making anything for VR going forward.
DO NOT use the Universal 3D template to create your project, it causes the game to crash on Quest 1 and I’m unsure why. So I installed URP manually in a 3D Built-In Render Pipeline template project.
