Hi. I’m noob to this and need some help. The project requires Unity engine version 4.7.2f1, but when I run it, I get the error “Error loading page. Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates”. I tried running the project on newer versions of the engine, but I got nothing but a bunch of errors. What should I do?
Well, it appears that licensing server for Unity 4 is over since Unity 5 is the oldest version on Archives page: Download Archive
Possibly, disabling the internet will help to open the project temporary, and then Update it to Unity 5.
NOPE. most likely a 4.7.2 project will not work in anything above that version. I have tried. So many things were changed and depricated that my errors were 999+. Errors like scripts in standard assets and water and just about everything. I am beyond pissed. Take a few minutes to write a patch to bypass connecting to a damn license server for a FREE product. They just pulled the rug out from underneath a lot of people and don’t give a damn
Huh…
I am not an expert in writing a patch to bypass blocking of old engines. Is it possible to find it somewhere on the Internet?
hard to find ANYTHING about 4.7.2. I thought I found something about a .json file in unity that is what tells the damn game to try to connect to license server…but I had so many tabs open and accidentally closed it. Not sure if it would have done anything if I could locate the file and delete it. At this point I’d pay for pro version of 4.7.2 or give any amount of $$$ to just have access for a single day so I could at least do a build. I’m not so keen on continuing with the ancient project, but would just like to have something to show for the thousands of hours I put into it. Really pissed that unity just pulled out the rug - it would take someone there 2 minutes to write a patch to negate that whole connecting BS so people could just use the damn thing
in researching changes to 5.0 , the physics engine has changed. I managed to get my 4.7.2 project to open and play in the editor but anything requiring physics is broken. I throw a grenade and it goes nowhere blowing up in my face, rigidbodies on debris from instantiated airplane that has exploded just float in the air, rockets instantiated as gameobjects fail to have AddForce work and go nowhere…the list goes on. Also had water which looks really cool with distorted reflections but it’s buggy. Also had a boat which was a mod of the standard assets car controller - something to do with the wheel scripts in unity so the boat chugs along at 3 miles per hour instead of zipping like a speedboat - it’s rockets also fail to shoot past the point of instantiation. today I think I’ll make a new scene and just see if I can get something to work by writing new scripts
Could you explain to me how you did this?
Do you have any videos you can make to help me?
This method didn’t work, do you know anything else that can work, even if it’s temporary?
not sure if you are asking me but…I installed 5.6 for starters. 5.0 - the next step up from 4.7.2 was horrible. could not recompile because of .js scripts ( that I do not use anymore but are still in project). after deleting all of them there were still too many issues. So I skipped to the last 5.6 version which recompiled in spite of the .js scripts. But you will still get errors and unable to run the editor until you take care of them. Some were 3rd party scripts like AdvancedAI, UltimateRope, Waypoint scripts - but also a lot of scripts from the standard assets and things that came with unity in version 4.7.2. Over several hours addressing all the errors ( the red ones, nevermind the yellow ones) I could get it to play. but many things broken. Mostly things to do with physics where the standard assets car ran painfuly slow and buggy. A host of other problems that I fear I must address since Unity is not offering any help whatsoever even just to explain WHY they even require license server for a FREE product any more or what that error even means or how to bypass it.A scorch and burn policy as they move forward with new versions
