Hi there, I have been building a complex house for an arch vis project, so far using forward rendering and beast baking.
On switching to deferred my FPS go from average of 150 to around 10.
I made a test scene with walls, 8 dryers, 6 spotlights casting hard shadows to test the difference. forward rendering did 1500FPS and deferred did 15.
I have fooled around with all the quality settings globally and in the lights, but nothing makes much of a difference.
Am I missing something huge?
My impression is that if you are not specifically taking advantage of things that perform faster with deferred (like tons of lights, without shadows, and some post effects) forward is going to perform better.
The numbers you are posting though do seem a bit extreme.
I see, all of my lights will need shadows, which might prove problematic. I’m surprised though, the demo apartment scene with dynamic lights where you can throw around objects runs very fast with at least 3 shadowing lights.
