Aight well , been playing between the two modes , forward , and deferred for a bit now, and im noticing some strange behaviour. First off, the test scene.
-
alot of cieling lights all marked as baked only non important, during Run Time , they are all deactivated and not part of the scene at all really.
-
2 spot lights set up as red alarm lights that revolve and flash as a ambulance light would resemble. These lights are important.
-
Now what i finding very hard to understand is how come in Forward rendering, i maintain a very decent 60-100 fps at any given time, but as soon as swapping itup to deferred frame rate bombs down to avg of bout 20 or so.
I understood deferred to be a much more efficient lighting setup than forward, but this seems to be totaly not correct. What i really dont understand though is why the huge change in FPS, with exact same scene under both, and further more , only 2 lights … and deferred just dies? It really doesnt make sense to me.
I am not asking for anyone to give me the answer to anything so much as , maybe just some pointers as to things to watch for , improve , setup , i dunno , it just seeems totally wrong that deferred is so horrible, and yet thats where all the best effects seem to be at. Or maybe im that statement in itself is incorrect, again , im unsure on the whole render side of things atm,.
