giftgaming - new in-game adnetwork - brands buy in-game items for players

Hi all,

We’ve been working on a new patent-pending in-game adnetwork called giftgaming (www.giftgaming.com) since late last year.

What does it do?
Our service lets brands should buy in-game content (powerups, items, DLCs) for gamers as an altruistic act and as some payback for all the years us gamers have had to put up with rubbish ads. We then take a commission and give the rest of the revenue to the game developer.

How does it work?
To get a basic idea of how it works in practice, I attach some screenshots of giftgaming in action, showing example integration in the Candy Match Starter Kit* and Unity Photon Bootcamp games.

Feedback to date
We’ve also had some great feedback from a former Jagex VP of Business Development and former WildTanget Director of Business Development EMEA - see our interview with him**:

We’ve also had one brand email and ask us how they can get involved in our trial

Unity Integration
We currently support the Unity game engine, which is why we are posting here. In terms of integration, if you have worked with iOS in-app purchases, our system allows you to reuse your application logic as ours works in a very similar way. Basically each gift has a code eg. “100_COINS”. To use giftgaming, you’d install our Unity package and then drag and drop the giftgaming prefab into the first scene of your game (which then persists throughout the game).

It then makes period requests for gifts (to be discussed - is poll or push technology preferred?) via HTTP to our giftgaming API. We can do some geotargeting of the player based on IP, as well as location. If the player is eligible for a gift, the server sends back some JSON about which brand is giving the gift, etc.

Of course we do some caching on images to prevent unnecessary fetching of ad images.

What’s next?
We currently have one game company with 1.6 million players interested (as well as a one brand), and if any other game companies or developers want to give us a try please email trial@giftgaming.com

We think a game company could use it also as an advertiser themselves to drive installs (cross-app advertising).

We would love if it you could give us some feedback as we launch into production. Pretty soon, we’re also launching our Seedr seed fundraising campaign if anyone is interested in putting a minimum of £10 behind us.[/B]

Thanks,
Nick

Hello ,

Looks interesting !

Is the SDK for Unity Available ?

Cheers,

aCat4mIndia

We have an in-house SDK, but at the moment it’s not publicly available just yet (will be soon though!)

We would like to a fix a few bugs were aware of and have a private beta first.

Also need to get some of the legalities sorted out… I suppose if it was for testing purposes only, we could just state it doesn’t come with any warranty and is to be used at your own risk.

We have a newsletter if of interest: http://www.giftgaming.com/#newsletter
