Havok is coming!! Havok is coming!

Havok is coming!! Havok is coming! I’m going to pee in my pants!!!.. ooops just did. I can’t help myself. SOOOO excited.

Havok is coming!!!

:shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock::shock:

And? It’s not like any of us can afford to buy a license to it.

That was not really that impressive…

All they did was mix a few trailers of well known games together in my opinion. The engine may be amazing, but they gave me, a complete outsider, no interest…

EDIT: After watching a few videos Havok actually looks pretty good. Especially : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIcg5eotZlY

Umm ok… And what is so exciting about that?

It did say “For Free”

Yup. IT"S FREE!!!..

Here’s a good article about it.

Ok it’s free. That is exciting.

But before you celebrate too much, you should wait for the whole deal. A video and a website where I can suscribe to a newsletter is not much.
There must be a catch.

Vision Engine, Havok AI, Havok Physics, Havok Animation and all their tools… for free, on mobile platforms? That’s crazy!!!

Mmm Havok. Mmm Skyrim. The game where you so much as touch an object on a table and it goes flying off across the room as if you hit it with a sledgehammer.

Sorry, video did nothing for me, but then I’m a Bullet fan.

Skyrim was made with Vision engine?

I rather have bullet integration

Oddly, a Havok rep just contacted me. Wants to visit my office and show his wares. Guess I’ll ask about it.

But, I’m skeptical. I’m reminded of Intel’s Cloud engine, which was going to be free and awesome. “Change the World” they said, except … it didn’t. Which is why they call it vaporware.

Gigi.

Cool… can we keep animated gifs on this forum to just game dev specific or avatars, as it can get easily abused (like above) and while I bear the dxcam1 no ill will, I do know how unity operates its forums… and if something goes too far like this they will remove animated gif rights for everyone since its not game-development or unity centric.

So lets not abuse that.

Re video: would be cool if they didn’t just show AAA desktop and console games and hint this is possible with their mobile engine. Because it aint

Can’t make clouds without vapor.

That’s exactly what I was thinking

Oh wait…

Brilliant.

This is a bit more fun, and aptly timed:

Love those “Rigib Body” physics.

Oh…!

After I picked myself off the floor, I then wondered as others what is the catch?
Unity has a free version too that you can develop with etc. Then there’s the paid version with more advanced features.

I can only think it’s the same. Free version good but limited in some fashion…
Paid version more bells and whistles. Still everyone will take a look of course.
