I cannot open my unity editor

I don’t know whether I should tag this as a question or a bug but whenever I try to open a pre-existing unity project or create a new one, I get hit with an error message saying that Unity.dll cannot properly load but it is in the program files. It used to work before during the recent Brackeys jam but just a few days later, it starting to do this. I already deleted unity and re-installed it about 5 times and it hasn’t worked. I know that my pc meets system requirements because it used to work before. If I can’t find any answers then I don’t know what I am going to do. What do I do ?

That’s not a guarantee though. The behaviour may change with every new Unity version. Do check the system requirements here.

Try installing perhaps 2022.3 or 2021.3 to check if an older version still works.

Unable to load a DLL also makes it seem likely that an antivirus may be interfering. If you run 3rd party antivirus try disabling that.

Unity version 6 used to work just a few weeks before so I know that my laptop meets requirements but I DID download version 2022.3.60f1 and when it finished installing, it showed an error. After some time, I ended unity hub’s task with task manager and when I opened it, it seemed like it finished downloading but I cannot create new projects on it. Whenever I try to make a new project, the new project window closes but nothing else happens.

This just started for me too - im on a pretty fresh install of Win11 with a new 5080. All specs are fine and everything was working last week, but I suspect something happened when i reinstalled some other GFX software and visual studio got messed with somehow - I uninstalled / reinstalled C++ distribution, and installed the latest 6.0 LTS, along with everything visual studio - i also installed the Unity workload inside VS and the latest .NET - which likely arent related to this error but always helps to make sure.

started up just fine after that. If it doesn’t stick we’ll know something weird is happening under the hood

I just installed a SSD on my laptop and re installed unity to check if something is different and now it works. I don’t know why but I guess it’s fixed now.
