Is there a way that i could continue my program development on a android device?

I know this sounds a bit weird, but i dont have access to my pc right now.
Imo it would be amazing if i could continue programming, scripting some lower end protypes on my android device
So has anyone made some apps with unity that allow some acces to scripting physics etc.?

Or is unity team planning to release a android version of Unity3d? Because it seems to be more than possible…
Thanks for your time for anwsering my post!

I don’t think anyone plans to create any form of the Unity editor on an android device anytime soon. The workflow would be quite odd, and the user-base minuscule.

As for scripting, I’m sure you can find a decent text editor on the Android Market :stuck_out_tongue:

Unity only runs on Macs and PCs. It’s not feasible to make it run on an Android device.

The only device I’d see Unity being able to work on as an editor would be a tablet.
A phone would be way too small.

Maybe in the future there will be a Unity-Mini for this sort of thing although as DMan says there will be a miniscule user base, so prbably not going to happen.

Not a bad idea though!

Doubt it that a mini unity will happen, for different reasons

  1. the input is really not suited for it
  2. The devices IO isn’t suited either, the SD speed on android is horrible
  3. It would never be able to work on iOS where it would have to work first as its the main mobile platform
  4. Whats the point in it if you need a device that won’t land before 2012 (current tablets couldn’t run it at all, next generation not performant enough to be interested in approaching it either) and that will not be priced below the $800+ range if a notebook able of running unity costs $500 and has a real keyboard mouse / touchpad which makes it 10 times more productive to develop

Everybody writes DMan instead of Dman. I may have to make a new account =P

Nope. It’s a game engine we talking about. The device can’t even handle it. Thats why development tools remain on workstations like PC/Mac. And just like 3d modelling softwares(the v complex and big ones) aren’t seen on a mobile too. Cause it’s just no point.

If you really want, could just get a very cheap laptop which you can bring around and use.

Maybe it sounds like the man, i guess.

Thanks for your replys. It was just an idea of mine because ibe seen some decent shder usage and graphics on android. I was quite amazed of what android iz capble of in my case my phone… So yeah i thought maybe, there is a way to run and test some scripts, because there is a shader editor for android and it runs pretty smooth on my phone, im sure it would run better on a tablet. Anyway thanks for your replys.
