Native visual scripting?

Visual scripting is the most important feature for me. I know there are plugins like playmaker and uscript but it’s not the same. All concurents have it(blueprints in ue4 and flowgraph in cryengine)! I know there was no visual scripting in unity 5 features but i still hoping! Does anyone know when (if unity team develops it of course!) unity will have native visual scripting?!
P.S. Sorry for my bad english :stuck_out_tongue:

There are no publicly available plans for that, since it would be a nice headline I would think unity would have said something, if it is in development. So for now… no, no built-in visual scripting.

Hopefully, for me, never.

I understand the appeal, but I prefer if they left that in the hands of plugin makers.

Yeah but they’ve released native 2d tools despite 2d toolkit asset and they announced new gui system (there’s ngui asset).

Ok i’ve contacted unity support. I hope to get answers. Thanks for answers!

“Because a plugin exists” is not a good (only) reason for Unity not to implement a native system - as you’ve pointed out they’ve supplanted existing third-party solutions several times, and rightly so. The question is these:

A) whether it would benefit more from being first-party rather than a third-party solution? I believe it would, as it would allow newbies to exchange their bits of visual script, and reduce the barriers of learning to first-time Unity users, especially those who are not coders by training. Complete Unity newbies are less inclined to spend money on the asset store, and are also the ones that would benefit the most from visual scripting.

B) Would it be a better use of Unity’s time than some other feature they could implement instead? This, I’m not so sure on. There are TONS of features that users have been begging Unity for for ages, and I’m not sure this takes priority over many of them. For example, an overhauled Input configuration system is something that only UT can do effectively, and IMO would be a much higher priority than visual scripting. Integrated Save&Load would be in a similar situation as visual scripting, integration-wise. Many physics features have been requested for a very long time. I just don’t think integrated visual scripting is more important than any of these.
