Need Suggestions for Good Music Tracker Programs

Lately, I been trying to get into the music side of game, and I have started looking at music creation program. Since I am doing it on mobile - where space is premium - I have come to the conclusion to use tracker music for the game. Since Unity supports MOD, IT, S3M, XM tracker files, the question now becomes what music programs support these formats (as OUTPUT! Be able to read is not the same as be able to save).

And I have searched the internet and the forum and found some good threads regarding this. But without necro the old threads, so I thought I might as well create a new one here.

So far I have found :
OpenMPT
MilkyTracker
Sunvox
FMOD Designer

And I havn’t found any music tracker editor extension on Asset Store so far…
(Big hint to all you Asset Store programmers!)

I also found there is no way to modify the tracker music at runtime which is bizzare considering tracker music were historically used by the demo scene and games and modified at run time for effects. It feels like UT just licensed FMOD and dump it into Unity. It would have been great if UT has license FMOD Designer as well (besides the FMOD API).

So I would like to hear what other people are using for making their tracker music. Any suggestions?

Madtracker (exports *.mt2) is another one.
Tested Sunvox on iPad these days, really powerful.

But you´re right, none of these exports to Unity compatible files.
And yes, at least we should be able to mute/solo single tracks (“columns”) of a songfile (as “Multitracker” for iPad does):

Otherwise I don´t see any advantages of using trackerfiles in unity against using ogg or mp3.

There is still advantage - far smaller file size. 5 minutes of MP3/Ogg music at high quality would most likely be at around 5~7 Mb, while it would be less than 64k on a tracker file (depending on how many samples used). So size is still an advantage.

True, but I can´t imagine a piece of non-amiga-sound without clear pads/strings/choirs and stuff and the sum of these samples quickly comes to a similar size as an ogg or mp3.

After all I agree, Unitys musictracker support should be improved!
