Seeking clarity on 2023 becoming Unity 6

Does this mean a). There won’t be a 2023.3 tech release around April any more? (as announced prior to Unity 6 being a thing) and b). Will projects using 2023.1 or 2023.2 automatically be ‘rolled up’ into Unity 6 when that releases later this year? --since that’s kind of what the above quote implies. Cheers.

I’m sorry, but where does it imply that they do anything to your projects on tech releases? I don’t see it.

This is about Unity, nothing else, they will release it as Unity 6 instead of 2023 LTS.

It’s just a rename.

Yeah, fair enough, I can appreciate I may be mis-reading their statement.

When the 2023.3 beta is completed, will it be released as ‘Unity 6 Preview’?

Unity 2023.3 beta = Unity 6 Beta
Unity 2023.3 = Unity 6 Preview
Unity 2023.4 (LTS) = Unity 6

Is this correct?

I’m presuming that given that any version of what would have been 2023.3 would contain much of what Unity 6 will offer that Unity quite reasonably won’t want us to have the option of getting most of the benefits by just sticking with ‘2023.3’ without the new licensing terms.

Yes, exactly right!

Curious what happen to 2024.1 and beyond? 2024.1 will become Unity 7 preview?

Or it may be Unity 6.1, 6.2 etc.

Hi guys <3 Any ETA on Unity 6?
