Sprite Editor Change is annoying

Maybe this is just minor to some, to me its a real PITA. At some point, you all changed the default settings on a UI / Sprite, so that when you hit apply, it defaults to MULTIPLE sprites. In almost every case, this is not desired. It used to default to single, not sure why the change, but its just annoying.

Just my opinion. Thanks.

It also annoys me enough I have to make this utility. It may give you an idea if you need something to alleviate the situation on your workflow.

Exquisitely annoying. There was no possible reason to do this, it breaks SO many typical workflows, it surprises me constantly whenever I’m in a new project, it was just pointless friction.

“Oh but there’s presets!”

“Yeah, but it USED to work one way and you gratuitously broke it for no reason.”

It’s the same silliness when they swapped the APPLY and REVERT buttons, but only on the Sprite Editor, not on the main importer. Unbelievable.

If there actually was a good reason, I have yet to hear it from Unity. GO!

Save yourself many clicks and start making use of presets: Unity - Manual: Reusing settings with preset assets

Sure, but I concur with Kurts remarks about exactly that.

The defaults will always be inconvenient to someone in some way or another.

Eg: I make all my sprites in sprite sheets. So a default of ‘Single’ would be less convenient for me.

Hence why presets exist to make the defaults irrelevant. Save yourself tons of time and set up a few simple presets.
