Hey, I’m Goody!
I’ve been using Unity Plus for the longest time to enabled the option for dark mode editor and splash screen removal for my project using Unity 5 (I know, its old, but not obselete)
I just sub to Unity Pro, and it seems that both option above aren’t available for me.
Any help and pointer will be really appreciated
Let me know if I’m putting this topic to a wrong section
“not available” means what exactly?
Are you using the Hub?
Have you tried installing a newer editor to see if the Pro license is valid for these? Initially with the recent licensing changes there were issues with older Unity versions. If I recall correctly there is no limit to how far back a Pro license applies.
Of course there’s always the option to upgrade. Well not to 2022+ for sure but you could try successive updates to 2017, 2018, 2019 and stop where you run into a serious issue. More often than not even major version upgrades tend to go relatively smooth but it does depend on the project and may require API changes.
Hey CodeSmile,
By “not available” I means that the both option for dark mode and splash screen are disabled, I’m unable to interact with it, just like I’m using a free version (screenshot attached)
Yes, I’m using the Hub, and able to tick/untick both option on Unity 2019.
Since my project have quite a lot of plugin/API for many game platform, I prefer not to update it to newer version, because re-testing it for each platform would make me crazy xD
I guess you’ll have to try your luck with searches.
The only thing I can think of is the old system using a license file located under ProgramData that you had to delete in order to revoke your license and then get a new one. But I can’t recall the procedure.
Your reply above remind me about .ulf file issue I had years ago, after tinkering for a while, the issue are resolved!
This is the step I did, for anyone that experience the same problem :
- Delete .ulf file in the Unity 5.6. folder
- Launch the Unity 5.6. from their own .exe, not from the HUB
- Re-enter your serial key
- Voila! now you can launch the Unity 5.6. from the HUB and its working just fine
It seems since old version of Unity are built without the HUB, they have their own version of outdated license
Thank you CodeSmile!
Yes, ulf! I had “alf” on my mind and thought that had to be incorrect, thinking it only came to my mind because the actor recently died. But there was a connection after all!
