Unity Remote 3 - Error while sending message to Editor (468126)

So both my iPhone and Mac are connected to the same wifi network, my mac’s firewall is off, Unity3 is open and running, and I’m using the Unity3 version of Unity remote.

From what I’ve read this is apparently not a router error but I’m beginning to think it is.

Creating a private network between my mac and iPhone is a pain in the ass because when reconnecting to my regular wifi network it times out constantly until I restart the router.

I can get it to work very occasionally by typing my local ip into Unity remote but it works maybe once out of every ten tries.

How can I go about making Unity3 remote work the way it should? Do I need to forward ports?

Ok so here’s what I did, my problem seemed to be specific to Irish Eircom Zyxel routers.

Firstly download this if that link breaks it’s a page on Eircom’s website titled “Connecting Apple TV on eircom Zyxel P660”

Once that’s done login to your router, Zyxel default is http://192.168.1.254 Go to Network> Wireless Lan, Check the Active Wireless Lan box and then check channel selection, set the channel to channel 11 (2462mhz), hit apply, check for a green confirmation message down the bottom of the page, then restart your router.

Your mac should now be visible on Unity Remote 3 to connect to. That said, it’s not 100% reliable, I find if you can’t connect to close Unity Remote 3, lock or power off your phone and then try to connect again and it should work.

To anyone outside of Ireland with this problem, the goal is to A) Make sure your router allows devices to communicate on your Wireless Lan and B) Manually set the channel to 2462mhz or something else that will work. Quickest solution is to call your ISP.
