Unity Versions - been away for awhile, version differences please

Hi All,

Had to stop using unity for a couple years (layoff, problems, moving …etc) but hope to get back to my project now, I see there are two latest versions:

Unity 6 (6.0000.0.33f1) LTS

and

Unity 2022.3.55f1 LTS

want to take my project to the latest version, it’s a VR project that I have posted on Sidequest, I now have the time to add levels and re-release. Plan to work on it for several more years to come and keep releasing/updating adding content.

Which version do you recommend I update to?

What are the differences between the two above versions?

Thanks,

Vanz

6 is the latest, 6.1 is in beta (as per banner)

and Unity 2022.3.55f1 LTS also looks like the latest, but this is being fazed out…

no its still getting maintenance … think of it that way, they are fixing bugs, but putting new into 6+

I’ve switched to Unity 6 and it seems really stable. One nice feature in 6 is that you can customize the splash screen on Unity personal.

Unity 6 is an equivalent of Unity 2023. Versioning has change back to when last time Unity 4 and 5 was.

cool, so this format “Unity 2022.3.55f1 LTS” is being deprecated?

or are they keeping both for some reason…

if they’re sticking with the old way again, why the flip flop?

So 2022 is well 2022, 2023 they announced they decided to go with 6, in part it was so they werent tied down to 1 release a year, i guess more so it could slip to say 1 release every 18 months maybe more…

tbh is the number really a big deal? for me, whats in it matters…
