unity wont start up!!!!!!

when ever i try to run unity 3d free this pops up

Failed to initialize Direct3D 9.
Make sure you have DirectX 9.0c installed, have drivers for your
graphics card and have not disabled 3D acceleration
in display settings.

i have directx installed with 3d acceleration on and have the most up to date driver downloaded for my computer and unity always used to start up before i did a system restore and got rid of all my files

I could be wrong here, but the community probably isn’t the best place to submit this. Have you tried submitted a bug report?

You can also try the suggestions on this list: Why does Unity 3.x/4.x fail to start on Windows? - Questions & Answers - Unity Discussions. Number 3 on that one is the biggest reason why Unity won’t start for most people.

Unity doesn’t run on Windows vista… At least windows 7 is required
