Viewing the Profiler on a Stand-alone

Hello, I’m currently doing a tutorial in which the author tells me to make a development build and check Autoconnect Profiler: http://catlikecoding.com/unity/tutorials/frames-per-second/ (about a third into it)

When I run the standalone (using Windows 8), I don’t see a Profiler (the standalone just runs with the words Development Build in the corner), and the Profiler in the editor doesn’t show any activity. This is apparently an unusually n00bish question, as I’ve searched the web for information on my problem and can’t find anything. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: For some reason, after restarting Unity and the Standalone a few times, the standalone now appears under the choices in “Active Profiler” in the Profiler window. But selecting it produces three timeout errors and a ‘failed to connect’ error. Is this because the standalone pauses when it’s not selected? Do you have to run it on a different computer?

Hello! I checked Script Debugging as well as Autoconnect Profiler and Development Build in the Build Settings window and it worked.
I’m using Windows 7.

This video by Scott Steffes explains it really well:
