Welcome to Unity Discussions, the place for you to ask questions, discuss, help others, and get help from peers regarding Unity development.
Unity Discussions Categories
On this community forum, you will find a multitude of categories that serve different use cases and purposes.
The Product categories, divided into Unity Engine (Editor & Runtime), Unity Services, Muse, Speedtree, Pixyz, and (Unity) Web Resources should be used for any questions, product feedback, or other discussions related to the use of the tools and services Unity provides. For example, if you have a question about how a particular feature in the Unity Editor works, or what technical approach others recommend to achieve a desired effect with it, the Unity Engine category would be the right place to start the conversation.
If you’re new to Unity, you’ll want to check out Getting Started for directions on how to start your journey and Learn Content & Cetrification to discover and discuss tutorials, guides, and other resources intended to educate yourself. Already have an awesome project that you want to share with the world? Do just that within Community Showcases. This is the place to discuss all third-party content created with or for Unity’s tools and services, such as made with Unity games or Asset Store Assets. The Collaboration & Jobs space is for folks looking for a gig or looking for someone to join them on their project. Lastly, head over to News & General Discussion for those less technical game industry-related topics.
Tags and Product Areas
To help you discover interesting conversations and get a more focused content selection, Unity Discussions uses a system of tags that further classify topics in conjunction with the above categories. Tags provide meta-information about conversations such as the topic type to distinguish between Questions, Feedback, or Official announcements.
Since tags can be quite granular, especially within the Unity Engine and Unity Services categories, there is a third filtering system available on Unity Discussions that groups multiple related tags together, such Graphics or Multiplayer. These tag group filters are referred to as Product Areas in Unity Discussions.
How to post
To start a new conversation, click the New Topic button on top of the page and then select the option that corresponds to the category you want to post in. Fill in the required tag drop-downs by selecting tags that are relevant to the conversation, compose your topic, and hit submit.
