xbox 360 license

hey does anybody knows how to get the license to develop
for the 360?

You have to get your license from Microsoft first to have a dev kit.

ah ok
so how do i get that?

You’ll have to talk to Microsoft, however this is not trivial.

A Devkit will run you 10k. And generally Microsoft will not license you unless you already have a publisher. And the publisher won’t pick you up unless you are licensed. :stuck_out_tongue: Xbox 360 licenses are big things and going to be a lot of work, and you better prove you can build a title worthy of XBLA before you start.

I thought AppHub was making this a lot more accessible?

A Creator’s Club license and an Xbox 360 license are very different things.

Creator’s Club (or App Hub) allows you to create games using strictly XNA/Silverlight for Xbox360 Indie Games/Windows Phone 7. You can only use Microsoft’s specific Managed library, no native code, and only ever release to Xbox Live Indie Games. This is for small developers/hobbyist/mobile development.

A 360 License allows native code on the 360 and is used for XBLA/Box games. Unity uses Native Code and is not based on XNA in any way, and so the 360 Unity is for the full Xbox 360 developer license. This is for AAA/Studio development.

Unity can not base it’s engine of XNA, and cannot in any feasible way allow an XNA based engine without creating a new engine from scratch and losing it’s build once, deploy anywhere philosophy.

Ok
and how can i develop for xbox live?
do i need i license?

This seems partially answered,

I too am wanting to build a test game and play/test it on my xbox 360,

OK so it would seem XBLA is out of the question (also am I reading this correct a license is around $/£10,000?), but what of this other option;

What is it?
Is it compatible with a game I have already created with unity (5.1.1)?
Can I try and play my game on my xbox 360 or will it make my xbox become banned?
can I then share the game with my friends and play against them (LAN or online or both)?
Does it cost? I only wish to test simple created games as a learning curve?
Does it cost If I sell my game?
Is Microsoft an evil empire?

This thread is ancient, please use current information since things have changed quite a bit.

This only applies to Xbox One:

If you plan to develop for Xbox 360, you still need to contact Unity’s Sales team afaik.

Thats a strange position on their end. I wonder why they chose to exclude the 360 from the indie program…

como consigo la licencia de desarrolldor de xbox 360 y en donde
