All Unity Games chrashing

Hello, for the past few weeks, all of my Unity games have been crashing to the desktop with a Unity error (sometimes after a shorter period of play, sometimes after a longer period). I have no idea what the problem is. Especially since I completely reinstalled Windows 11 and all drivers and assumed the problem would be resolved. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Does anyone here know of a similar problem, or can I upload the game’s crash report somewhere?

If they are “yours” then check the player.log.

If they are “games made with Unity” then this is the wrong forum to ask for help. You’d have to get support from game developers, but since several crash on your system you can be almost certain the issue is with your system.

Since you reinstalled Windows from scratch (not: repair install) it seems likely that there is a compatibility (not meeting min specs) or hardware issue (unstable system under load).

All stress tests passed. I thought maybe we could glean something from the game’s crash report. I don’t think a developer will ever answer me. But okay, I understand that this forum isn’t designed for questions like this. Thanks for the answer anyway.

What are the exact specs of your PC? Maybe you have an Intel i7 or i9 of the 13th or 14th gen known to degrade themself?

Make sure to update your motherboard BIOS. Then, try to enable/disable some BIOS options (Intel XMP or AMD EXPO, Re-bar…) to test if it makes a difference.
But I tend to think that is an hardware issue, and Unity games calls something that trigger it but your stress tests don’t.

The best stress test by far is to run Furmark and Prime95 together with their burn-in (max heat) tests for 2 hours. If a system is even slightly unstable, it will reveal itself.

The Intel issue is also a possibility, I’ve had that myself. This can only be fixed by a BIOS upgrade provided the CPU hasn’t taken permanent damage (in which case Intel may still provide replacements).

If after windows reinstall you also installed “standard” software that you always run then that may also cause the issue. Particularly antivirus or other so-called security software are typically more trouble than worth.

My BIOS is up to date, and I only use Windows Firewall and Defender. It’s just strange, because the error just appeared out of nowhere, without me making any major software or hardware changes. I also tried using older NVIDIA drivers, because someone in the Steam forum told me it was a problem with the graphics card driver based on the crash report, but that didn’t help either. And who knows if what he said is correct.

The crash report says “Thread 16424”,“crashed”:false,“frames” 150 times, always with a different number, of course. But I don’t know what that means.

You could post the player.log. We know better what to look at and what conclusions to draw from it.

That’s nice, thank you very much, but The crash report is very long, I posted an excerpt, but the site prevents it from being displayed.

So search for the crash and look at above it..

Can I upload the report somewhere here?
it is an odt file

It should be named player.log and located in the game’s AppData folder.

ODT is for OpenOffice I believe. Perhaps you opened it with OO? Notepad would open the log just fine.

Include several lines above “CRASH!!!” and everything from there to the end. Should be less than 500 lines I guess.
If there’s no “CRASH!!!” message then just lines from the bottom up until what looks like “normal” logging.

I can’t post, the site always says there are too many dots and lines in it

You can attach it as file I believe.

Yes, I tested it with XMP yesterday. It hadn’t been enabled the whole time. I turned it on yesterday, but it didn’t make any difference.

Im a new user, i cant upload files.

Thanks for the spec, but bad news for you: intel i7-14700K

Don’t worry for the logs right now, focus on running stability tests. Try stability test proposed by @codesmile and if it fails, good luck with your futur RMA.

Maybe also try this (source):

Will Intel be releasing a tool to help customers identify if their processors are affected (have degraded)?

I’ve had the i7 for a year, and it always runs with the latest BIOS. And there are no issues with other games either. OCCT test was fine.

If you’re playing games made with Unity then there was a major security issue about a week ago (on all Unity games released since around 2017). There’s a chance your antivirus has updated the security to block old Unity games. I noticed they also seem to be blocking some mobile games as security risks until they release a new build. Are games made in other engines working fine for you e.g. Unreal?

Yeah unreal games run without problems. Unity games all crash with a small unity window
