Asset Server performance?

I think that the Unity asset server caches things like .ma file converted to unity’s internal format or an mp3 to whatever the target hardware needs.
I was wondering how the synching works, if it keeps a local cache and in the background feeds the server when that cache is changed (as it should).

Unity’s Importers do import files and then store the transformed version in the Library folder. The Editor has a background process that enqueues those changes and uploads them to the accelerator server.

If you open a project that someone else on your team has imported the accelerator will be checked and any matching files will be downloaded rather than doing the transformations locally.

Hope that helps.

Very useful, thanks.

Does it then copy the server version of the transformed file locally?

Yes. That’s correct.

Very cool thanks for clarifying.
