Create a competition in which you offer a few free pro licenses to the winners.

Can you guys create a competition in which you offer a few pro licenses to the winners?

Topic should be: “Visualize your dream scenario” in which people create a game showing their best dream or worst nightmare.

Some people tell me they are being followed by something huge and cannot escape. “Something huge” should be created as closely as possible the way it is in the dream.

What matters is

a) game mechanics
b) idea
c) time - should not take longer than one week
d) only 1 person per project
e) only your own models, nothing borrowed, nothing stolen, no help from others
f) only your own animations

what shouldn’t matter is

a) graphics

So even not so skilled people graphics-wise have a chance.

I am writing this cause I love games about dream scenarios.

They won’t do this, sorry.

Okay, here’s a wild and crazy idea! Why don’t you do this, turn it into a game, sell that game, and use the money to buy a pro license instead?

the best part is where you want a contest that fits your skillabilities.

That’s crazy talk your crazy who would ever do that

Do you realize how stupid you are?

I am trying to create something for all of us - the games to enjoy - and all you do is try to put the idea down?

Trying to put that idea down is madness, guys.

Think before you write - I did think when I created this topic, now it’s your turn.

grabs popcorn

So you are enjoying it when attempts to creating something for the greater good are being tried to be destroyed by rabble-rousers? I used to like your posts but this remark proved you unworthy of any respect.

Whatever I believe there are people out there who enjoy this.

Thread updated.

work one week…win 1500 dollar. seems legit

Nuff said.

Hmmmm I see this as calling the kettle black, how stupid he or she is? I see no stupidity from their end

Oh and I wonder why the rules you gave suit your current game and your own capabilities?

That is so wild and crazy it might just work

They’ve had several competitions in the past so they are bound to have another one sooner or later. I am sure you can make your game fit the next one so just wait.

They just had a contest where you could win 10000 dollars, enough to buy plenty of pro licenses.

Hey op,

looks like your abrasive behaviour in general seems to be rubbing folk up the wrong way. Maybe a dose of humility will help you in what is essentially a social environment. Just a small tip, you know?

I’ve actually started on a project a couple weeks ago to try and recreate a dream I had. I’m not much of a modeller (actually it’s the UV and Texturing part that gets me) so the project has been sitting around, smelling and being useless. I want to finish eventually though. Before I started programming yeeeeeears ago I was actually trying to learn 3D Modelling using a free version of Maya. I wanted to make small movies with it but started getting more into programming instead. I’d like to recreate some of my dreams in a more short-movie sort of way, compiling them all together because each dream continues the story.

hippocoder, do you suffer?

says the guy who is waiting for the short bus.

Usually the contest’s topics were not interesting to me so I created my own to inspire them for a topic being more appealing to me. After all, I don’t need a license, I want it. If I don’t get it, it’s no big loss.

I hope that wasn’t directed at me.

They have plenty of contests… contents to win more than the cost of a Pro license, which is awesome. Giving away your product is kind of a stupid idea. Especially if it’s a license a week? Really? Do the math and that’s roughly $78,000 a year! Just get a job, save the money, and buy the license like the rest of us.

You can sell your Unity Free games perfectly fine and make the money to pay for a license with those, which is the entire idea behind giving away a free version (so you make money and buy pro). This brings me to the next point of you stating graphics aren’t a determining factor and if they aren’t then why do you need Pro as it’s basically just a graphics upgrade (unless for whatever reason you need native plugins).

Insulting the community also isn’t a good way to become a part of it…

I think it was.

Go Aussie on his ass.

I think this thread should be closed, before it gets even more narkey
