Distorted textures on Line Renderer

Setting Line Renderer with a start point and end point of different values results in distorted textures, which appear folded or creased along the edge between the two triangles making up the Line Renderer mesh…

This makes the line renderer useless for creating beams etc. which widen or narrow according to distance, as the light texture applied to the Line Renderer appears twisted at anything other than 1,1 ratios.

Can we have a fix for this?

Seconded. Can’t believe Unity has been going this long and yet there still isn’t a standard way to draw line effects and we all have to roll our own. What’s the point in supporting materials on Line Renderer when it can’t handle them?
